Department of Veterinary Pathology


General Description

Pathology is the science of the causes and effects of diseases, especially with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.
Following courses are given to undergraduate students by our department: General Pathology (5th semester), Pathology-I (6th semester), Pathology-II (7th semester), Necropsy-Demonstration (8th semester), Poultry Diseases (8th semester), Forensic Veterinary Medicine (9th semester), Laboratory Diagnostic Methods (10th semester).



There are two laboratories (one for scientific studies and the other for education) located in our department. In addition to routine histochemical techniques, molecular techniques such as immunohistochemical techniques, in situ hybridization, western blot, PCR are also used in our studies.





Research Interests

Here are some of our research areas:
Immune response against infectious agents, apoptosis, neuronal steroidogenesis, biology of cancer.
